Another update

I don't update as often as I should, but life gets in the way.

We are still loving the new home, But will fall here, the trees are a PITA!! So many leaves! WOW. But I still love the trees, maybe because Mike not I rakes them ha ha. I find the hot-tub extra fun now that the weather is turning cold.

Megan is in K now, she loves it. She is doing really well and I am very proud of her. Soccer is almost finished, it will be missed. I am now officially a chauffeur to a 5 year old, very exciting life I live!

That is all for now, will TRY to update more later. Heck maybe even post some pictures!

I am a slacker, this I know.

So the updates.

My exciting news?? Did happen. We now live in our very own home!!! It is an amazing home, the second I saw it, I called it my dream house. Yes I will take pictures. But for now. Its about 2400 sq ft house, with 3 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a family room with a nice fire place, den (which is the office) a large dinning room and a really big kitchen. We have 2 decks, one is the size of a patio that is used for grilling, the other one is huge in the back of the house, its divided in half and has a hot-tub for 7 that my DD adores. It has a very nice size yard, with lots of trees so we get amazing privacy here. Very cool location.

My parents came and left, they loved the home. It was great having them here, so refreshing to hear positive stories and not only negativity.

Anyway, lots of people showed their true colors. Not sure if I want to get into it on here. But it will make being around them especially difficult. Zero respect was shown not only for me and my parents but also my child. And that makes me a very angry momma bear. Seeing their true colors, really changed me. And I am officially done even TRYING to be nice around them. How people can be this rude, cruel and selfish I have no idea. I really wish I could get into it here, but it will not solve anything and just ruffle feathers. So away with the negative and back to positive.

The school called me about Megan and she will start soccer at the beginning of August. I am super excited for her, she also LOVES swimming.

I know, I know. But you cant say I did not warn you.

I have been bad.

My exciting news is (.) this close now, but I am still not fully excited. With my luck it can all fall apart at the last minute.

My parents will arrive for a visit tomorrow and I am super excited by this. I miss them a lot.

Sad news, my mom found out she has problems with her heart. They have not been fixed with medications and shots, so when she goes back to NYC she will be admitted to the hospital. Please keep her in your prayers. I am so very worried.

Hope to update you all soon with not only my exciting news but also with some good news on my moms health.

Overdue Update

What has been going on?? A lot.

1- Megan got into the school we wanted her to get into, the school district is among the 10 best in Ohio. We had to use "open enrollment" to get her in, but she got in. Now I am not sure if I had to apply every year and if odds will be against us or if as current student she will get some advantage. I hope so. We are thrilled, even if it means driving 15 miles to get her to the school.

2- We find ourselves being (...) this close again, well actually its (..) this close now, to our exciting news. Hopefully this time we wont all go crashing around us. In a few days we should have more info. I am being cautiously optimistic, we have been around the block a few times and had our dreams crushed so I am being very careful not to get too excited.

Summer is here, and we are having fun. Mike only works 4 days a week so we have long weekends together. Megan wants to be outside and in the water 24/7.

Megan's kindergarten assessment

I was sure I blogged about this.

Well we debated for a while about what we should do. Megan turns 5 on July 31st and the cut off is August 1st. So if she goes this year, she will be the youngest child in her class (she is the youngest in her preschool class also).

However, we just got the results and she did awesome!! Half her her results came in at the highest point she could get, the other half only 1 point below the highest mark. Only ONE result came in 2 points below and that was for "answering questions". Now those who know my Megan, know that she loves to talk, tell stories etc. Since this was the first thing they did, I am assuming that she just got nervous as she didnt know any of those people, never saw them before and was separated from me right away, without really knowing where I went.

This made us make the decision that while age wise holding her back in preschool might be good, education wise we would be slowing her down and not letting her explore her mind.

In August of 2009, Megan will start AM kindergarten. Mommy is freaked out, where did my baby go??

How much I should say because I am not sure who is reading.

We found yet another home, with one acre of land. However the people did not want to budge from their asking price and it wasnt worth the asking price. Sooo....

We do have an update, and some very exciting news. But, I cant share it yet because I am not sure who is reading this. But an update should be posted soon.

On another note. I am totally addicted to the game Farm Town on facebook! I need help. No really, I do.

Two more homes.

Now watch by Monday both will be sold.

Both homes are in very good neighborhoods.

Home A) is in our neighborhood, its good because its new. The home was build in late 90'ies and is very elegant looking. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, great room, kitchen and a dinning room. I do not like the yard. The home sits at an angle and they yard is odd shaped. But ... not bad.

Home B) is in an established good neighborhood, downfall of that is very high taxes!! The home was build in the late 80'ies, is all brick, 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, great room with fire place, living room and a large kitchen with enough room for a table.

Both homes have a nice size laundry room! Which is amazing. Both homes have 2 car garages.

I love home A because its soo elegant. Kitchen has an island and great room has cathedral cellings. Its all open plan. Great looking.

I love home B because the family room is on the other side of the house. So our main "sitting/watching tv/playing wii/computer/Megan's 10000000 toys room could be away from guests who drop by.

My plan was always to find a house that has that feature. Home A doesnt. However its elegance is pulling me in.

The homes are about the same size sq wise. Home A is a bit bigger and has a bit more land, but it also costs more.

I have to make a decision. Both homes are new on the market and with my luck they will sell from under me.

Ice killed a baby bunny.

I am still not over this and very, very sad.

I let Ice out into his kennel. Didnt think much of it. Got ready to leave, call Ice back home and he has fur in his mouth... ok... wtf?

I go in the kennel and see a nest a momma bunny made. Its a hole, under a chair that I used to give Ice shade in his kennel. The fur in his mouth was the mommas fur that she used to line the hole.

But one bunny is alive and well, the other barely moving. He wasnt aggressive at all, he was just wanting to play.

The bunny momma was sitting in the middle of the yard... watching.

We had to go, so with tears in my eyes I ran back home. That night Mike checked, the one bunny was dead, the other gone.

I cried... a lot. I still cry.

I went to clean his kennel this weekend and found the other baby bunny, dead. Not sure if this was bunny #2 that was alive and unharmed or if maybe this was #3 that died, he was buried under the moms fur and grass.

I am so sad. I know its not the dogs fault. He is just a dog. But I feel so guilty. So, so guilty.

I must be house "unlucky".

I keep losing all the homes I want!!!

1) The first home I lost, out in the "semi-country" by that I mean it was country BUT a neighborhood in the country (BTW just found out the well water would not be an issue as city is taking over THIS YEAR). Anyway this house was on the market for 7 months and NOT one person even looked at it. I finally look at it, and the same week they get 4 other offers. Realtor was acting a bit shady, so we lost it.

2) In the city, huge house but very plain outside. I still wanted it. It had a basement. This house was on the market for a YEAR with no offers. Lots of views, no offers. I make my offer, come to a verbal agreement.... and someone comes in and buys it from under me. I am still bitter as heck about this one.

Looking back, my realtor really did not protect me here, she should have been more aggressive in looking out for ME.

3) I go to an open house this Sunday. Great part of town. The house ... to drool for. New on the market. Not as big as house 2 and no basement but OMG... drool. Today I call the woman who had the open house to make my offer. Only to find out that at 9AM they already got an offer. Now I am waiting, to see if the broker already submitted the offer. If he did not, they can submit both offers. If he did, I am too late.

Update.... Yep, sadly home 3 is gone. Lost another one.

Good and bad.

They told me Megan is the youngest kid in the preschool class. Both teacher and assistant told me her age worried them a lot, and when they found out she was never in a day care and always with me they expected the worst. But she did amazingly well in adjusting. And she is a fast learner.

The bad that she got I for....

She has problems knowing the difference between fantasy and reality. Her other problem was being able to create a patters.

The good .....

Somethings really shocked me that she knew. She can say the whole pledge, she knows how to do graphs, she said she loves science experiences, and likes to talk and tell stories... a lot, she can make rhymes and is one of the top students when it comes to it.

And she knows all the average stuff like colors, numbers, small and big letters, when they read a story she follows it can ask and answer questions about it, she remembers songs and poems etc etc...

I asked the teacher if she thinks Megan is ready for kindergarten, and she said... because of her age IF she was her daughter she would leave her in preschool one more year.

Time is getting close by and I still dont know what to do. We have testing set up on the 14th, I am sure we will make a decision after the testing.

Its been ages since I have updated.

The truth is I hate adding pictures. For some reason my blog refuses to size them to small, and my choice is to either post huge pictures that will annoy you or re-size each one as I ad them and that my friend is a PITA.

What's new? Not much. Megan loves preschool, she had her first field trip the other day and I did not have a heart attack which is very good. She loves swimming and can now swim with her head under water. Very cool. She is not happy about the fact that she might have to go to kindergarten.

Kindergarten, we have still not decided what to do. The cut off us 8/1 and Megan was born on 7/31, so she will be the youngest child in her class. Not fun.

House, still looking. Its a huge pain I must say. The house I loved came back on the market and the realtor was playing some shady games so we decided to let it go. Now we have an offer on another house and we are in a stand still. They do not want to go down much from the asking price. Its silly as the house has been on the market for freaking ever! I do want this house, but I think I will have to let it go also, which SUCKS.

Megan was sick all of February, it was bad. Saturday we took her to play with Mike's niece, no one told us... but she was sick. And now Megan has a runny nose. Crap.

Of a DSLR!!!

I got me a Nikon!! OMG I love this thing. My Sony H5 was a "DSLR like" camera, which is a glorified point and shoot that lets you go fully manual. And I have taken some really great pictures with it.

I am in LOVE with my Nikon. I can finally take amazing indoor photos, havent tried it outside yet but usually its the indoors that is a digital cameras nemesis.

I havent updated but that's because its been nasty and cold outside. We havent done much.

Megan is going to preschool and loving it. She was sick this weekend but is fighting it off well. I am starting to look for a good kindergarten. I was thinking of a Catholic school but her aunt (who is also the wife of Megan's Godfather) had her kids in the local Catholic school and didnt care for it. She is smart and I know she cares about Megan so I trust her opinion.

There is some drama in the house search front. The house I lost came back on the market. We made another offer but the realtor, again came back with "well I have an bigger offer, but they dont want to close for months so if you raise yours by so-and-so, we will consider it". It got a bit fishy, it wasnt even an official counter-offer, so we stuck with our original one and said take it or leave it. They havent called since. Offer expires today.

I am reading, a lot. Rediscovered my passion for reading. Just finished The Hunger Games, its a young adult book but I LOVED IT!!

We went to the golf course, they have huge hills and kids love them. But boy, they really are huge, and kids go down, fast... really fast. I was a bit scared for her.

House hunting

I havent posted about this on my blog, but most of you know sooo.....

We have been house hunting since about Oct/Nov 07. I have to say in all of this time we saw 30 or so homes. And all of them just didnt fit.

Finally we found one, it fit. And no one has even looked at the house since it went on the market 6 months ago. We made an offer, and we lost it. CRAP. All of the sudden 2 other buyers showed up. It sucks. Feels like you just got dumped by someone you loved. Such an empty feeling.

But back to the house hunting. We see 2 more homes on Tuesday. Not sure what to do now, or options of what to see are limited, or options of what we saw dont fit.

Do I make something fit?
Do I keep searching further and further from where I live?
Do I wait a few months and see if Spring brings new homes to the market?

Ugh, I am confused.

Went really good. As soon as the kids came over to say hi, she looked at me and said "Ok, you can go... see ya". She had lots of fun. I came for her swim class and she did really good. I think we will sign her up for additional swimming classes in January. She loves the water.

The Y, is great. We are now members. The preschool is fantastic, we have gotten a tour. They make parents feel very welcomed.

She should be happy, because Friday she will also have her swim lesson so I will be there for it.

My new obsession. So how wrong is it for a middle age woman to obsess with a book about kids in high school? So, wrong.

But, this writer is amazing. I could go on and on, and on, and on about the Twilight series. If you a teen you already know, if you are an adult give it a read, you wont regret it.

I am already done with book 1 and 2, and trying to figure out why amazon has not shipped book 3, and 4. Is this what heroine addicts feel like? LOL

The second Megan saw the snow she was dressed and ready to go. Both her and Ice had a great time. It was snowing like crazy, nice, big, soft flakes. The kind of snow even a mom who has to drive in it loves.

I know some of you know who he is.

At 20 weeks his mom was given news that no mother wants to hear. That her unborn son is so ill he will not make it to birth and if he does he will be stillborn. From 20 weeks on u/s and doctors only confirmed the grim news. Doctors had no hope, however mom and dad did. They did not end the pregnancy, they carried their child to term and prayed.

Baby Stellan was born... alive and HEALTHY!!!!!!!

I really have no words, I am so amazed by God and his work.

I'm a person who likes to say I hate changes but my life is a total contradiction of that.

When I was 9, but dad and brother escaped communist Poland. Big life change.
When I was 12 my family was finally reunited in America. I, with my mother had to abandon all we ever knew, with no guarantee we will ever see it again. Huge change.
When I was 24 I met my husband who was from Ohio and left my whole family 1000 miles behind to start a life with him. Another huge change.

Now more to come. My daughter will start preschool in December. My plan is to return to school in January. And we are hoping to buy a house if not this year, in the early months of the next year.

Lots of changes to come in the next couple of months.

Preschool!

Megan will start preschool in December.

We have taken the tour of the preschool at the YMCA, and while its the preschool that cost the most in our town, its the best fit.

The teacher is the same teacher Mike had in school, he says its the best teacher he ever had. She will have a swim lesson once a week. Its nice, clean and secure.

Plus we will join the YMCA. Again, not cheap but will be worth it. They have kid watch while you work out, they have a heated pool, and indoor playground! That alone will cut down on our cabin fever. I am very excited.

We got Megan a lap belt booster. I am so scared. I dont think they are safe, and I dont really trust them. She still uses a Regent booster in the main car we drive. But this is a spare. She LOVES IT. Loves the freedom she has in it. Ugh, mommy hates it and is soooo not ready for this.

There is a big, big chance that we might be able to buy a house this year!! YAY!!

What I am looking for, something modest. I am a person that lives within my means. Sure I could get a fancy huge house. But if something were to happen to DH and he would be out of work, I want to be able to afford my house and not feel like the government owes me handouts so I can keep my home.

* I want 3 bedrooms. We need a room for us, room for Megan and a guest bedroom.
*I want a kitchen that can fit a dinning room set.
*A bathroom I can move around in and not bump walls! I hate small bathrooms. And it can only have one. More bathrooms=more cleaning.
*I really want a living-room and a family-room. When we are home, we are in the living-room. Its our TV/Computer/Toy Room, where family hangs out and has fun. It needs to be large.
*Mike wants a 2 car garage.
*YARD that is a nice size! We have a huge yard now. I want something we can play on.
*I would prefer the house to be brick and not siding.

So please keep your fingers, toes, legs and arms crossed. I really, really want this and I wont want to make mistakes and get something I dont want!!

Trick or Treat

We already had ours. As always we went to the town my mother in law lives in, I guess because Mike knows just about everyone there so it feels less strange taking their candy.

Sadly the 2nd house we went to, we had an accident. Megan fell from the porch. There was one huge step to get on, and when she got her candy, she turned (my guess is forgot the step was there) and went down. Poor guy giving candy felt so bad. It was a really bad fall. He gave her more of her favorite candy lol, and moved his chairs so that other kids would not get hurt.

She cried for a bit, but wanted to continue so we did. The weather was prefect, warm and sunny. After a while the leg she hurt begun to hurt her so we went back to mother-in-laws house and she gave out candy. Today she is sore, and she woke up a few times saying her knee hurts.

It's getting cold

And I am not happy about it.

It feels like here in Ohio we go from, so hot you can bake to so cold you will get hypothermia.

I miss the days of it being "just right".

Megan loves the outdoors, and we spend the majority of the day in the backyard or at the park. The second she comes in she wants to go outside again, and again and again.

This will come to an end and I will have a child climbing the walks, cabin fever will hit again. Snow will come, and that will buy us play time outside, but no where near as before. I am hoping she will be in pre-school, part time but still 3 times a week 2 1/2 hours a day it will give her a much needed distraction.

And today I got a nut....

Daddy got Megan a rose, as always she ran to greet him by the car. And all I can her is "Momma, Mommy he got me a flower, its so beautiful. And it means he LOVES ME!!!" Than she noticed he had one for me as well and begun to scream "Mommy he got one for you also, he loves you too"

I am sure all of our neighbors just about died laughing.

He has been a friend to her for a long time. He lives near mother in law, each time she visits she runs to the backyard and call his name, and each day he barks at mother in laws house "calling her". Its funny how attached she is to this dog, she has been crying ever since she found out he is leaving. Almost every night I hear "Shiloh cant move, he is my friend".

I lost my first pregnancy in the 1st trimester. I will never forget the day.

But as much as my loss hurt me, it does not even compare to the pain people who lose a baby feel. So please today keep them in your thoughts and prayers.

My 4 year old daughter is my hero.

Last night we had to run out for some gas and apples. When we came home, Mike locked his keys in the car. Of course somehow it was my fault, but that's besides the point.

We had no idea how we would get in the house, it was late, dark and getting cold. Mike managed to open the window in the back. And he asked Megan to go in and open the door for us. She refused, the whole house was pitch dark and she has a fear of the dark.

But, out of no where she agreed. She ran through the house and opened the door for us. Poor thing had to run through the entire dark house to open the door.

She was super proud of herself, and so were we. She overcame her fear to help us out. We told her she is our hero and she really is. I am so proud of my little girl.

Polish Stuffed Cabbage Rolls - Crock Pot Recipe

2 cups of cooked rice (but not fully cooked, make sure rice is still a bit tough)
1 to 2 lbs. raw ground beef (this can be mixed with ground turkey, or pork)
1/4 c. diced, minced onion and a clove or garlic
1/4 tsp. salt & pepper
1 green head of cabbage
1 can of tomato sauce

Cook cabbage in a pot until it soft, peel the leaves off. Line crock pot with leaves on top that arent the best looking.
Fry the onions and garlic a bit for taste, let it cool.
Mix beef, rice, salt paper, onions, garlic well.
Take a small amount and roll it in a cabbage leaf, place in crock pot. Do so until you are done with the cabbage leaves.
Now as with most Polish meals, you can throw in anything you love on top, green peppers, mushrooms, bacon, parsley, tomatoes etc.
Add water, and the tomato sauce, cook on low for 5-6 hours (until meat is well cooked).
Fast and simple.

Can at times be impossible.

My daughter has always had this thing that if she didnt understand something, she didnt want anything to do with it. At times it was a tad annoying and frustrating, as she would have a melt down because a stuffed toy talked to her, or because she didnt want a jacket on.

Right now, this still hasn't ended. We went for a bike ride and I left her bike outside. Told her daddy will be home in a hour and we will go again. She decided to cry for the whole hour and sit by the door, because "she wants her bike home". Last night she had a meltdown because she wanted to take the dog to grandmas and refused to go without him. It seems like in the last few months she cries at the drop of a dime and cries 1-2 times a day.

Its always over such stupid and trivial stuff and at times you feel like pulling your hair out, in frustration.

I am not sure what the problem is, is it age? Is she bored? Is she tried and not getting enough sleep?

Whatever it is, let me tell you this stay at home mommy is counting down the days to preschool. I am looking forward to a job, where my co-worker wont have a meltdown because the cheese is not Mickey Mouse cheese.

Hair Dilemmas

Having a girl is not easy!!

What to do with their hair? What kind of style will look good?

I used to "allow" my MIL to cut DD's hair, she always ended up looking as if Steve Wonder trimmed her bangs... No really I am not kidding, huge gaps and always crooked. I have pictures to prove it.

A few months ago we took her to a hair dresser, who parted her bangs in the right section and said the rest has to grow out. Which is a huge pain because it looks BAD while growing out and at times is too short to get in a tie. Plus its hard to part it the same way again, trimming the bangs and avoiding cutting the parts that need to grow out.

Now, I am really, really considering growing out her bangs as well. I like the look of no bangs. But I know with a 4 year old who HATES her hair tied this would be a huge PITA.

I feel bad, I feel like my inability to figure out a nice hair style is making my poor girl look funky.

Seriously? A Princess?

We went to 5 stores, including "Halloween USA" and have not found a dog costume my Megan liked. As a mater of fact the only one I found was a white puddle. Eww.

She found a princess costume she likes. The only reason she likes it is because it has a wand, that she thinks is magic. But the thing is, its not very warm! And Halloween here is cold!!

So we have the back up, last years ladybug. I took it out and she put it on, was a ladybug the whole day.

I admit, I liked the idea of a doggie a lot more!!!

Cecilia Slaby

Just ruined my night, who knows maybe my whole week.

This is the "mother" who remembered the doughnuts but not her child. Her story is rather odd, till this day I do not understand why this "mother" was not charged with a crime. The police interview gives me shivers each time I see it, its like she is talking with her father who keeps telling her its ok and that she is a great mother. Ignoring all the facts of the case.

Here is the story, her husband would drop the 2 year old at the sitters most of the time, on days when Cecilia Slaby did it, she had about 1-2 hours where she had to be at work and her sitter wasnt opened yet. So, she would let her child sleep in the car while she worked, and used her break to run the child to the sitters. This has been documented by many complains and reports within the school. As a matter of fact the school even issued a memo about not leaving your child in the car, and the principal told Cecilia Slaby in person not to do it.

Did Cecilia Slaby listen? Nope she did it again, and again.

On the day her child died, she walked by the window by which the car-seat sat over six times, she parked and re-parked her car and removed doughnuts from the back. And yet "claims" she forgot her child. Ironically, and sadly someone who walked by her car ONCE 8 hours later did see the child. But it was too late.

Now Cecilia Slaby is on Oprah and giving out 2 other interviews, my guess is that in a couple of months, you will be able to get the Cecilia Slaby Story as a Christmas gift.

Cecilia Slaby should be behind bars. She might not have wanted to kill her child, but she committed action over and over again that she knew COULD have killed her child and was in fact illegal in the state of Ohio. She committed this action not be omission, but with full knowledge of what she was doing.

Pumpkin Patch

Monkey Sheets!

Do you all remember the meltdown for the monkey sheet? Here. Update is she has gotten them and... loves them.

Ok who would think a child would be insane about sheets??

Anyway, the first night we got them, she got sick and threw up all over them. After we changed her sheets and gave her a shower, we joked with that that if she really hated them that much all she had to do was say something, she didnt have to throw up on them!

But, I had to wash them the same night and have them on her bed first thing in the morning again. Now she wants a whole "monkey room".

Earthquake in Ohio

No, really. Not a tornado but an earthquake!

I was reading my little one a bed time story when I felt my whole house shake on its foundation. It felt as if a car ran into the house (ok, granted not a familiar feeling, a car running into the house, but I imagine it would feel that way).

I had no idea what happened, until today when Mike told me he saw on the news that we had a 2.9 earthquake. Holy Cow!! Ironically, he did not notice it at all (must have been asleep watching TV, but wont admit to it).

So I guess the next time a car runs into my house, I can say "Crap that felt like an earthquake" and mean it since I now know what an earthquake feels like. And let me tell you, NOT A GOOD FEELING!!

The scary part is there are two fault lines that run through my county (someone remind me why I moved here???), and both have had earthquakes that have been over 5.0. One of the fault lines is within 5-7 miles! (Again, remind me why I moved here?)
