My daughter is 4 years old and I can count on one hand how many times she went to bed by herself. For the most part bedtime is very special for us.
I tell a story, we lay in bed and talk about our day, snuggle. A lot of times she goes on to her bed while I lay next to her sometimes she falls asleep in our bed.
When she is in our bed, after talking about her day and snuggling I tell her its time for sleep and she needs to close her eyes. I close mine and "go to sleep".
Every single time, she spends a few minutes, touching my face and caressing my hair saying "My mommy, I love you so much" "My mommy is the best mommy in the world" "I hope you have good dream mommy" etc, etc.
Its those nights that I feel on top of the world, the love I feel from my child, while she thinks I am asleep makes my soul soar. Its so honest and innocent because she fully believes I am sleeping so she is not doing it to impress anyone, she is just expressing what she feels in her heart.
I hope that when my baby has a baby she will do the same with her daughter or son. And I hope one day her daughter or son will make her feel the way she makes me feel on those nights.

That is beautiful. I love it when Georgie cuddles me and tells me she loves me. It was only recently when we were away for a few days without DH that she first said 'mommy you are my best mommy'... makes your heart melt :)
